In this new episode of Wild Speculation, we explore the origin myth of the city of Rome. Romulus and Remus were set adrift in a basket as babies, only to be found and raised by a she-wolf. They then went on to found Rome.
But why did the she-wolf decide to raise them? Why didn’t she leave them alone, or even eat them? It is such an unlikely choice, and affects so much of history.
So she, the she-wolf, is the character I choose to examine in this story. Who was she? And what if she was more than just a wolf?
