Uninhabitable

Runaway climate change has ravaged the Earth. Temperatures and sea levels have risen significantly. Extreme weather has become the norm. And solar radiation is causing cancer and infertility at alarming rates.

Humanity must find a way to go on. Some escape to colonies around the solar system. Some build self-sustaining Artens (artificial environments) where a city’s worth of people can live protected from the devastation outside. A few make the brave journey to Proxima b in an attempt to set up the first human colony outside our solar system. Everyone else must find a way to adapt to the new harsh reality they live in.

Uninhabitable is a climate apocalypse microfiction series written on Twitter and collected here.

Cycle 1

In Cycle 1 of Uninhabitable, we explore a series of nascent societies forming in the aftermath of a climate apocalypse.
Some of them are built on the foundations of a previous society, while others are created as something entirely new.
Some are prepared to face the future, while others are simply reacting to problems as they arise.
All will have to overcome challenges if they wish to build something that lasts in this dangerous new world.
